The Process

Step-by-Step Service Flow

Step
1

Schedule Your Appointment

Book online or by phone at a time that works same-day and same-week slots available, evenings and weekends included.

Step
2

Complete Your Intake

We ask what’s clinically relevant recent exposures, symptoms, your sexual and health history the way a provider asks, not the way that makes people wish they’d said less.

Step
3

Testing & Sample Collection

A licensed Illinois provider collects what’s needed blood draw, swab, or both quickly and privately, with every step explained before it happens.

Step
4

Results, Treatment & Follow-Up

Your provider explains what each result means, what it doesn’t mean, and what comes next whether that’s monitoring, treatment, referral, or simply knowing where you stand.

How Quickly Can I Get Tested?

Most patients are seen the same day or same week. After a brief intake, a licensed Illinois provider determines which tests make sense based on your specific exposure history and risk profile not a fixed panel handed to everyone regardless of circumstance. Results come with a direct explanation from your provider, not a notification you’re left to interpret alone at 10pm.

Your care team will also cover:

  • Whether the timing since your exposure affects how reliable today’s results actually are
  • What a reactive HIV result means immediately and what the next clinical step looks like
  • What a herpes positive result means practically for your health, your relationships, and your daily life going forward
  • What hepatitis B and C findings mean for your liver health and whether specialist referral is appropriate
  • Whether PrEP makes sense for your ongoing risk level and how to access it if it does

Testing is the part most people spend weeks working up the courage to do. Understanding what the results mean is the part nobody warns them about and that is the part we take seriously.

Am I Eligible for HIV, Herpes & Hepatitis Testing?

Our HIV, Herpes & Hepatitis Testing Services Include

HIV Testing & Counseling

Rapid same-visit HIV testing with results explained directly by your provider not handed over as a number without context. We cover what a reactive result means clinically, what confirmatory testing looks like, and whether PrEP is worth discussing for your ongoing risk level all in the same appointment.

Herpes Type-Specific Testing

Herpes testing carries more clinical nuance than most patients expect going in and more than most providers take time to explain. We cover what type-specific testing actually confirms, what a positive result means for your health and your relationships in practical terms, and what management looks like from here, including what disclosure conversations realistically involve.

Hepatitis B Screening

Hepatitis B can cause significant liver damage for years without producing a single noticeable symptom. We screen based on your risk factors, explain what a positive result means for your long-term liver health, and coordinate specialist referral when ongoing management is clinically indicated.

Hepatitis C Screening

Hepatitis C is one of the most underdiagnosed infections in the country in part because it rarely announces itself until damage has already accumulated. We screen, confirm findings with appropriate follow-up testing, and coordinate specialist referral when the result calls for it.

PrEP Eligibility Evaluation & Prescribing

For patients at ongoing HIV exposure risk, we provide same-visit PrEP eligibility evaluation reviewing your risk profile, ruling out active infection, and initiating prescribing with built-in follow-up monitoring. Starting PrEP should not require navigating three separate appointments before anything happens.

PEP Consultation

For patients with a recent high-risk HIV exposure, PEP post-exposure prophylaxis is a time-sensitive option that needs to begin within 72 hours of exposure. We provide same-visit PEP consultations, explain exactly how it works and what it requires, and initiate care without delay.

The Most Question We Got so Far

How soon after sex should I get tested for STDs?

Still have questions? Reach out we’re just a message away.

I had a potential HIV exposure a few weeks ago. Is it too late for PEP and how do I know if I need to test now?

PEP — post-exposure prophylaxis — must begin within 72 hours of a high-risk exposure to be effective, so if it has been more than three days since the exposure you are describing, that window has passed. What matters now is testing at the right time. HIV is generally detectable within 18 to 45 days of exposure depending on the test used — fourth-generation combination tests can detect most infections within 18 to 45 days, with a conclusive result at 90 days. We factor your exact exposure timing into what we recommend and tell you directly whether testing today gives you a reliable result or whether a follow-up test at a later date is the more accurate approach.

It means less than the initial reaction to that result usually feels like — and more than a brief appointment typically has time to address. Herpes is a manageable, chronic condition that the majority of people carrying it have no idea they have. A positive result tells you a strain is present — it does not tell you when you acquired it, from whom, or how frequently outbreaks will occur, if at all. We walk through what your specific result means for your health, what suppressive therapy involves if you choose it, and what disclosure conversations actually look like in practice — because those are the questions that matter most after the initial shock of a positive result, and they deserve real answers.

They test for completely different infections. HIV testing screens for the human immunodeficiency virus, which affects the immune system. Hepatitis B and C testing screens for viral infections that affect the liver — transmitted through similar routes as HIV but causing a different type of long-term damage. Both are worth including in a complete sexual health panel, particularly for patients with overlapping risk factors, but they are distinct tests that look for distinct things. We determine which combination is appropriate for your history rather than applying every test to every patient regardless of what their situation actually calls for.

PrEP requires regular HIV testing — typically every three months — because it is prescribed to HIV-negative patients and that status needs to be confirmed consistently while taking it. Going without regular monitoring means gaps in clinical oversight that matter. We get your monitoring back on schedule, confirm your current HIV status, review kidney function and any other labs that PrEP protocol requires, and set up a follow-up cadence so the gaps do not happen again.
