The Process

Step-by-Step Service Flow

Step
1

Schedule Your Appointment

Book online or by phone at a time that fits your week same-week openings, including evenings and weekends.

Step
2

Complete Your Intake

We go over your health history, reproductive goals, prior device experience (if any), and any concerns about insertion so your consultation starts from a full picture, not a form you filled out alone in a waiting room.

Step
3

Consultation & Device Placement

A licensed Illinois provider walks you through the hormonal and copper options relevant to your body, answers every question about the insertion itself, and places your IUD or implant the same visit when you’re read no separate placement appointment required.

Step
4

Follow-Up & Ongoing Management

You leave with a placement confirmation, a follow-up plan, and direct provider access so if you’re cramping more than expected or something feels off, you’re not explaining your history to a new person on the phone.

How Soon Can I Get an IUD or Implant Placed?

Usually, yes. Once we’ve talked through your history and you’ve picked a device, your provider can place it right then.

We’ll also walk you through:

  • Which device fits your body hormonal IUD, copper IUD, or the arm implant
  • What insertion actually feels like, and how to handle cramping or spotting after
  • How long each option lasts, and what removal looks like whenever you’re ready
  • How your medications or health conditions affect your options
  • What’s normal in the first few weeks versus what’s worth a call
  • How quickly fertility returns after removal

We’re not just placing a device. We want you to understand exactly what your body’s adjusting to.

Am I Eligible for an IUD or Implant?

Our IUD & Implant Services Include

First-Time Consultation

We explain what insertion involves and what the first few weeks feel like before you choose a device, not after.

Hormonal vs. Copper

Different hormones, different effects on your cycle, different lifespans. We help you choose based on your health, not habit.

Arm Implant

For patients who’d rather skip a pelvic procedure. We explain placement, how long it lasts, and how it compares to an IUD.

Difficult Prior Insertion

If your last placement was more painful than you were told to expect, we talk through what happened and real pain management options this time.

Removal & Replacement

Whether you’re replacing an expiring device or switching methods, we handle removal with the same care as placement.

Method Comparison

Unsure if an IUD or implant is right versus the pill, patch, or ring? We compare all of it against your actual lifestyle.

The Most Question We Got so Far

How soon after sex should I get tested for STDs?

Does IUD insertion hurt, and what can be done about it?

It varies some feel a brief, sharp cramp, others barely notice. We talk through pain management beforehand, including timing your appointment around your cycle, so you’re not walking in blind.

It depends on the device. Hormonal IUDs are typically approved for somewhere between 3 and 8 years depending on the brand, the copper IUD can last up to 10 years, and the arm implant is usually good for about 3 years. All of them can be removed earlier whenever you’re ready — “10 years” isn’t a commitment, it’s just the outer limit.

Yes. It’s a common misconception that IUDs and implants are only for people who’ve already had children. They’re approved and safe for patients regardless of whether they’ve given birth — your provider will just talk through sizing and what to expect during insertion, since the experience can feel slightly different depending on your anatomy.

Most insurance plans and Medicaid cover IUD and implant placement, often with little to no out-of-pocket cost, since these are classified as preventive care under most plans. We verify your specific coverage before your appointment so there are no surprises, and we can also walk you through self-pay pricing if you’re uninsured.
