The Process

Step-by-Step Service Flow

Step
1

Schedule Your Appointment

Call or book online we have same-day openings most days and same-week availability when you need a little more flexibility.

Step
2

Tell Us What's Going On

Before anything clinical happens, we sit with what you’ve been experiencing symptoms, timeline, prior treatments, what has and hasn’t worked so the testing we order actually reflects your situation.

Step
3

We Collect What We Need

A licensed Illinois provider handles sample collection swab, urine, or both in a private room, with a clear explanation of what each sample is for before we collect it.

Step
4

Leave With Answers, Not Just Results

When findings come back, your provider walks you through what each one means for your health, what treatment looks like, and what the follow-up plan is so you are not decoding a lab report on your own.

How Soon Can I Be Seen?

Same-day appointments are available most days. The intake conversation happens first because trichomoniasis, HPV, and mycoplasma genitalium each present differently, overlap with other conditions, and require testing decisions that should be based on your actual picture rather than a preset menu.

Here is what that conversation covers:

  • How long symptoms have been present and what treatments have already been tried
  • Whether your symptom pattern fits trichomoniasis, mycoplasma, or something that has been misidentified as something else entirely
  • What your HPV result history looks like and what additional testing or monitoring makes sense from here
  • Whether a broader sexual health panel is worth adding to this visit based on what you share
  • What your partner situation looks like and how that affects both treatment and follow-up

Most people coming in for these three infections have already been through at least one round of treatment that did not stick. The reason is usually that the right infection was never confirmed and this visit exists to change that.

Am I Eligible for These Tests?

What Our Testing Visit Covers

Trichomoniasis Testing & Same-Visit Treatment

Trich mimics a yeast infection closely enough that most people who have it have already been treated for the wrong thing at least once. We confirm the diagnosis specifically not by elimination and treat at the same visit so you leave with a plan, not just a result.

HPV Evaluation Beyond the Pap

A positive HPV result from a Pap co-test tells you a strain is present. It does not tell you what that means for your overall sexual health picture or what monitoring schedule is actually appropriate for your age and history. We have that conversation in full rather than stopping at the lab value.

Mycoplasma Genitalium Testing

This is the infection most providers are not testing for — and the one behind a significant number of persistent pelvic symptoms that keep getting attributed to chlamydia, BV, or nothing at all. It has developed meaningful antibiotic resistance, which means treating it correctly requires knowing it is actually there first. We test specifically when your symptom history points toward it and prescribe the regimen that accounts for resistance not the default antibiotic that does not.

Recurrent Symptom Investigation

If you have been treated multiple times for vaginal infections without ever reaching a point where things actually feel normal, we do not start with another round of the same approach. We look at what has been tested, what has not, and what the symptom pattern actually suggests then test accordingly.

Full Panel Option

If you want trichomoniasis, HPV, and mycoplasma screened alongside chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, and hepatitis in a single visit, we build that panel around your risk profile so nothing is left out and nothing requires a return trip.

Partner Treatment Guidance

All three infections reinfect from untreated partners. We give you practical guidance on how to handle the partner conversation what they need, what expedited options exist, and how to approach it without it becoming more complicated than it already feels.

The Most Question We Got so Far

How soon after sex should I get tested for STDs?

Still have questions? Reach out we’re just a message away.

I keep getting treated for BV but it always comes back. Could it be something else?

It could — and this is one of the most common stories we hear. Bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, and mycoplasma genitalium produce overlapping symptoms, and trich and mycoplasma are not included in the standard panel that most BV diagnoses are based on. If BV treatment has worked temporarily but symptoms return within weeks, there is a reasonable clinical case for testing specifically for the infections that were never ruled out. Recurring symptoms after repeated treatment are a signal that the original diagnosis may have been incomplete — not that BV is simply resistant to treatment.

Because routine testing for mycoplasma genitalium became clinically feasible relatively recently, it has not made its way into standard STI panel protocols at most practices. Many providers are aware of it but do not order it unless symptoms specifically suggest it — and even then, the overlap with chlamydia and gonorrhea symptoms means it often gets treated with antibiotics that do not adequately cover it. The result is patients who cycle through treatment without resolution and providers who attribute the persistence to reinfection rather than misidentification. We test for it when your clinical picture points toward it because that is what resolves the cycle.

Neither conclusion follows automatically from a positive HPV result. There are more than 100 strains of HPV — around 14 are classified as high-risk for cervical cancer development, and a separate group causes genital warts. A positive HPV result on a Pap co-test means a strain was detected on your cervix — it does not confirm which strain, whether cell changes are present, or what your long-term risk looks like without additional context. The right response to a positive HPV result depends on which strains were detected, what your Pap showed alongside it, your age, and your screening history. We walk through all of that at your visit rather than leaving a positive result to sit in a portal without a clinical conversation attached to it.

Yes — because feeling fine and testing negative are two different things, and trichomoniasis is asymptomatic in a significant portion of the people carrying it. If your partner has a confirmed trichomoniasis diagnosis and you have had sexual contact with them, you have been exposed regardless of whether you have developed symptoms. Testing confirms your status, treatment clears the infection if it is present, and both matter — because treating one person in the pair without confirming and treating the other is the most common reason trichomoniasis returns after treatment.
