What Is STI & STD Testing?
This appointment is designed for people who want routine STI screening, peace of mind after a possible exposure, or a simple way to stay on top of their sexual health. Testing may be completed in person or through available collection options based on your needs. Many sexually transmitted infections (STIs), also known as STDs, can exist without symptoms, which is why regular testing is an important part of protecting your health.
Sexually active people should make STI testing part of regular care, even when they feel fine. CDC recommends HIV testing at least once for everyone ages 18 to 64.
People who are sexually active under 25 should be screened yearly for gonorrhea and chlamydia.
If you have new or multiple partners, or you do not always use condoms, yearly gonorrhea and chlamydia screening may be appropriate.
Men who have sex with men may need at least annual screening for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, with more frequent testing in some higher-risk situations.
Pregnancy screening often includes syphilis, HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C early in pregnancy, with chlamydia and gonorrhea testing added when needed based on risk.
If you are worried about a recent exposure, testing is the safest way to get clear answers. CDC emphasizes that many STIs have no symptoms, so symptoms alone are not a reliable way to know whether you have an infection.
Yes. Serenity Choice Health can bill eligible insurance plans for STI and STD testing services. Depending on your coverage, you may still be responsible for a copay, deductible, or coinsurance amount.
Our team can help review your benefits, explain expected costs, and guide you through the billing process before your appointment whenever possible. We believe financial concerns should never stop someone from getting important sexual health care.
If you do not have insurance or need additional support, we may also help connect qualifying patients with financial assistance resources and charity-based programs that can reduce out-of-pocket costs.

The Most Question We Got so Far
Still have questions? Reach out we’re just a message away.
The timing depends on the type of infection and your recent exposure. Some STIs can be detected within days, while others may take several weeks before they appear accurately on a test. If you think you were recently exposed, our providers can help determine the best testing window and whether repeat testing may be needed for reliable results.
Yes. Many sexually transmitted infections do not cause noticeable symptoms, especially in the early stages. People often feel completely healthy while still carrying and potentially spreading an infection. That is why routine STI testing is one of the most important parts of protecting your sexual health.
If your results are positive, a healthcare provider will contact you privately to explain your results, discuss treatment options, and guide you through next steps. Many STIs are treatable, and some are fully curable with medication. We can also help answer questions about partner notification, follow-up testing, and ongoing care if needed.
