What Is Telehealth Abortion Emotional Support?
Telehealth abortion emotional and counseling support is confidential virtual access to trained counselors and care team members who specialize in supporting patients through the emotional aspects of abortion care. It is available before, during, and after your medication abortion — on your schedule, from the privacy of your home.
Emotional support services cover:
- Pre-abortion counseling and decision support
- Anxiety and stress management before and during the abortion process
- Emotional processing during and after medication abortion
- Post-abortion emotional check-in and follow-up support
- Support for patients experiencing grief, relief, ambivalence, or complex feelings
- Referrals to licensed mental health professionals when additional care is needed
- Support for patients navigating abortion care without disclosure to family or partners
- Counseling for patients in difficult or unsupported circumstances
Emotions Around Abortion Are Normal and Valid
Patients experience a wide range of emotions before, during, and after an abortion. There is no single correct way to feel. Common emotional experiences include:
- Relief — many patients feel relief as the most prominent emotion after abortion
- Grief or sadness — some patients experience a sense of loss, regardless of their decision confidence
- Anxiety — uncertainty about the process, symptoms, or circumstances can cause significant stress
- Ambivalence — holding mixed or conflicting feelings simultaneously is common and valid
- Isolation — patients who have not disclosed their abortion to others may feel alone in the process
- Empowerment — many patients feel a strong sense of autonomy and clarity after their decision
Our counseling support meets patients wherever they are emotionally without judgment, agenda, or pressure.

If your emotional needs require ongoing mental health care beyond our scope, our team will connect you with licensed therapists and reproductive mental health specialists.
Free Abortion & Financial Assistance Options
At Serenity Choice Health, we believe access to abortion care should never depend on a patient’s financial situation. Our team works to help every patient find affordable options so they can receive safe, confidential care without financial stress regardless of income, insurance status, or background.
Patients with Medicaid may qualify for abortion services at no cost, including telehealth consultations, abortion medication, and follow-up care. Our staff can verify your Medicaid coverage and guide you through the scheduling process in your preferred language.
If you do not have Medicaid or cannot afford the cost of care, financial assistance may still be available. Serenity Choice Health works with trusted abortion funds and financial assistance programs that help eligible patients reduce or eliminate the cost of services. These programs may cover part or all of the cost of your medication abortion, telehealth consultation, or related abortion care.
